This Hopper Barge was sunk on September 9, 1992. Despite the age, this vessel is holding together well, although there are several hull deterioration points, some of which are large enough to allow diver access thru to the hopper. Several areas of the hull support finger and other gorgonian corals. Cleats and other protrusions are providing habitat for arrow crabs, cocoa damsels, and spotfin butterflies. Game fish observations include 40-45 red snapper (1-2 lbs.ea.), 8-10 mangrove snapper (1-8 lbs.ea.), 7-10 Trigger Fish (1-2 lbs.ea.), 150-200 Spadefish (1-2 lbs.ea.), and 5-8 Sheepshead (2-5 lbs.ea.). Under the Northwest corner of the structure it was noticed that 5 or 6 larger mangrove snapper were lurking (6-8lbs.ea.).
