Mississippi Gulf Fishing Banks, Inc.
Activity Report for the Period
October 12 - November 8, 2001

Trip Summary

During this period, there were 3 reef construction trips and 2 reef surveys conducted. Concrete Rubble was placed at 2 locations in FH-2 completing MGFB's first "Reef Complex" and rubble was placed on top of Barge "A" in FH-1 to augment it as a "center piece" for another future "Reef Complex". Surveys were conducted on the Jumbo Barge in FH-7, 960829 166F13 Rubble 2 in FH-13, and on Barge "A" in FH-1.

Rubble Deployments
Construction was performed by J.E. Borries Construction Company and spotter operations by PRIMOFISH.COM. These final 2 rubble deployments were made around the Northeast Barge "E" OR-3808, ID 108F2 920902, located at 30°05.38'N/88°33.23'W, to form a "Reef Complex", a term used to describe a more efficient reef system whereby smaller "satellite" reefs are constructed around a larger reef at a distance that makes them perform somewhat individually but also works together. The surrounding depth was 56 feet with a clearance of at least 47 feet maintained over the reef material. Rough conditions on the October 19 trip caused a cable to break on the Tug "Big Mike" which ended up entagled in her starboard wheel. Diving operations were necessary to free the cable resulting in the deployments being conducted after nightfall. This coupled with the rough conditions caused the material to scatter at times in a north south direction, but most of the material was on target. The material on the November 7 deployment ended up in a cirular area with about a 100 foot diameter. This material also had an average taller height than the other deployments. Coordinates for this entire "Reef Complex" are summarized as follows:
